Illustration (spoof campaign) for the cover of the V-section in De Volkskrant. The hook was the news of giving the leading role in a new feature film to one of Hollands most famous singers, Jan Smit. I thought it was just funny, but director Paul Ruven unfortunately didn't get the joke: in his opinion this illustration was the reason the film flopped. Client: De Volkskrant (2011)
"‘Het Bombardement is kapot gemaakt door jou, Bor Beekman.’ Pardon? ‘Dat is bekend, de hele filmwereld weet dat. Je hebt Jan Smit in een artikel belachelijk gemaakt, met die cartoon met hem als vrouw.’ De Volkskrant liet in 2011 een alternatieve bombardement-filmposter ontwerpen, met Jan Smit in alle rollen: held, spion, diva. In het artikel bij de illustratie werden de spelrepetities beschreven, waarin Jan Smit een romantische scène oefende." DE VOLKSKRANT
